JC Young was born and raised in Alaska, a place that shaped not only his life but the way he sees the story itself.<\/p>

For Young, the wilderness has never been an abstract idea. It has been a playground, a workplace, a testing ground, a refuge, and a reckoning. Mountains, snowfields, forests, rivers, trails, weather, and hard labor all move through his work because they have moved through his life.<\/p>
